Final Fantasy XIII - The First Few Hours
- Active Battle System - this initially troubled me as I prefer the thinking time most RPGs like this provide. However, since you don’t have to specify your teammates moves while still being able to tailor their tactics at any time makes the system easy to adjust to.
- Leveling structure similar to FFX - rather than gaining xp with each battle you gain cp (crystogen points) which you can use to strengthen each member as you like.
- Token - if I was black I would be none too happy about my race’s sole representation by that doof. Of course, he is the one that has the adorable baby chocobo.
- Libra - no longer feels like a bit of a waste of a turn. The enemy information is stored and your team (as well as your own auto-options) adjusts to best dispatch each enemy.
- Teams - so far your active team members and team leader are all assigned.
I think the gameplay is fantastic and I love that the lead is a non-annoying non-uggo female, but so far it doesn’t have the magic, depth and whimsy of FFVII.
